Kylian mbappe is not fit and may not be fit for to start France next match

Kylian Mbappe did not train with France on Monday evening in St Petersburg on the eve of the World Cup semifinal against Belgium, but sources told ESPN he is still expected to play.

The French forward had a small back problem and received some treatment at the stadium while his teammates practised.

However, his absence was only a precaution and there is no doubt about his participation to the game on Tuesday, sources said.

N'Golo Kante and Benjamin Pavard didn't take part in the collective training session either and simply jogged and stretched on the side of the pitch. Didier Deschamps is managing the fitness, tiredness and little niggles of some of his players.

The France coach will only make one change to the team that will face Belgium on Tuesday, sources said. Blaise Matuidi, who was suspended against Uruguay on Friday, will come back in the starting line up with Corentin Tolisso sitting back on the bench.

France will line up once again in a 4-4-2 formation with Matuidi deeper on the left of midfield than Mbappe on the right hand side. Kante and Paul Pogba will play in central midfield and Olivier Giroud and Antoine Griezmann will start together up front.

At the back, Hugo Lloris, Raphael Varane, Samuel Umtiti and Benjamin Pavard all had treatment on Sunday but trained normally on Monday. Umtiti has some issues with his left knee but will keep his place.

Deschamps has never played the same team two games in a row in this World Cup so far. He made two changes (Giroud and Matuidi in) from the Australia game to the Peru one; six (Mandanda, Sidibe, Nzonzi, Lemar, Dembele and Kimpembe in) for the Denmark one; six again for Argentina (Lloris, Pavard, Umtiti, Pogba, Matuidi and Mbappe in); and one for the Uruguay match because of Matuidi's suspension (Tolisso in).
